Here is what some other volleyball coaches and players have said about him:
- "In preparation for the 1984 Olympics, the US Olympic program headed by coach Doug Beal and his staff incorporated a two-person passing system into their game. The two passers involved were Karch Kiraly and Aldis Berzins. Not only did Kiraly and Berzins receive most of the serves, but they also demonstrated the technical and tactical use of swing hitting—which allows the passer to receive the serve and move, or swing, to any zone attack."
- "Kiraly and Aldis Berzins revolutionized international volleyball by taking every service reception on the way to the 1984 Olympic gold medal."
- Karch Kiraly about teaching his kids to play volleyball: "As they grew up, I'd teach them to pass and play defense like Aldis Berzins."
